A veteran Indiana singer-songwriter, session singer and entertainer, Daniel D.A. Young has been a jazz singer and American Songbook Standards specialist for the last twenty years, performing in numerous Central Indiana venues.

A session singer, nightclub performer and bandleader working in Central Indiana in the Seventies, Daniel was also performing as a singer-songwriter, with several songs recorded and published locally. In the Eighties, he was a solo act and a bandleader (D.A. & the Convictions), performing a series of downtown club shows, and the 1987 WRTV6 State Fair Best Bands Contest. In the Nineties, he produced an original pop/rock CD, "My Favorite Stranger" (1998) and performed solo, doing American Songbook standards, in small clubs, restaurants, wine bars and senior centers, all over Central Indiana.

In 2002-2004, D.A. and his trio played to large audiences in a series of elegant events in ballroom venues, including the Indy 500 Champagne Ball at the Convention Center; programs for the Perfect Wedding Guide at the Marott, Scottish Rite Cathedral, and the Indiana Historical Society; a three-night grand opening stand for Eddie Merlot's; a holiday party at the Westin Hotel; and the Indiana State Fair.

D.A. next had a weekly solo slot at Brix, A Zionsville Bistro, for over two years, and played monthly at Deano's Vino in Fountains Square in 2005-2006, as well as other restaurant/wine bar work, regionally. He put out a second CD of original songs in 2005, "Soul to the Wheel." In 2006, he produced a CD of jazz standards with pianist Ken Fary and his group. "A Place to Dream" was released in 2007, and garnered a capsule review in Indianapolis Monthly, as well as the support of Chuck Workman at WICR. That year, there were three appearances at the Chatterbox Jazz Nightclub, a Jazz Kitchen show, and two at Wolfgang Puck's at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

After a series of solo shows in 2008 at Center Stage Cafe, downtown, and a program for a large audience at the Palomino Ballroom in Carmel, D.A. retired to rest his voice and work on other projects. He came back in 2012, producing two editions of "The DREAM*BOAT Variety Show" on Mass Ave, followed by "D.A. Sing FRANK & TONY," a series at Chef Joseph's at the Connoisseur Room (nine shows, 2012-2014). After a health-related hiatus, D.A. returned for a final show at Chef Joseph's on Nov. 25, 2017, before their closing at the end of the year.
