The Delicate Art of Shameless Self-Promotion / A Rationale

In today's world of entertainment and media, there is so much advertising, promotion and propaganda coming at everyone from so many directions, it seems overwhelming at times. It makes me reluctant to add my little tooting horn to the din, but I have to do it anyway. Please accept my apology in advance, if notices about my work as an artist are in any way offensive. Yes, it's all blatant self-promotion, and it embarrasses me, but it's my job now.

So much of the current media clatter is about junk, made to glitter and attract a buck, but not worth much. This isn't the George Foreman Grill, or a Justin Bieber lunch box, or the Obama Chia Pet. It's not Jersey Shore or Real Housewives, Botox or wrinkle cream or diet pills, or a trendy, 3-D movie with exploding robots, half-naked actresses and no plot. Not that there's anything wrong with any of that. If you want that stuff. So, how can I make you want MY stuff? I have to tell people what's good about it.

This work arose from my heart and soul, as well as my mind and my talents. I believe in this work enough to go beyond my own comfort level and indulge in the necessary, delicate art of shameless self-promotion, as most artists, writers, singers and such must find a way to do (until a third-person promoter takes over). Sometimes, I pretend to be someone else when I do this. My publicist is, ahem, "Leo Moon," you know. He'll be taking over speaking for the product...

It's not about "me," anyway. It's about the material, the art and entertainment content. Behind the hooplah of promos and covers and titles, there really is something to be seen behind the curtain, inside the tent, beyond the barker's loquacious invitation, come one, come all, come see what mysterious and amazing, entertaining and edifying thing is waiting, well worth your time and your dime, inside.
